During the fall semester of 2017, as a part of the course, ETEC 6223 - Strategic Planning & IDT Programs, I worked with the math department at Roach Middle School in Frisco, Texas to develop a technology strategic plan. The purpose of the project was for me to learn the process of developing a strategic plan. The plan was focused on purchasing and providing the department with much needed technology equipment to enhance daily instruction and increase student engagement.

The stakeholders that I identified included administrators and teachers in the department as well as students at the school. I met with stakeholders to assess needs and determine what technology was already available. The stakeholders completed surveys and met with me for interviews to determine what the highest needs were. AFter much research and collaboration with stakeholders, I developed a short and long term plan that addressed hardware needs as well as staff development and financial obligations. An evaluation plan was also used to monitor the successfulness of the plan.

Although the concept of a strategic plan was foreign to me heading into this course, I was pleased with the knowledge I gained throughout the course. My strategic plan was well received by the department. Although the department did not have the funds to implement the plan at the time of its development, the principal indicated she intended to use the information from the plan to guide future technology purchases when the funding was available.
